T20 World Cup Win and Auriga

The last T20 World Cup that India won was in 2007, when Auriga IT was just an inception, the preparations were being done but it was just an idea/experiment. The next ICC Trophy that we get is ODI WC in 2011 and Auriga is just an year old and then CT in 2013. It has been a wait of 11 years since then, it is very hard to bring into perspective how long are 11 years..but then when I think again, the entirety of Auriga’s existence has been 14 years – the whole lifetime..11 years seem to be BIG. This thought itself took me deeper into introspection and made the recent T20 WC win more special for me.

It is not that the team was not strong thru the years, in fact we mostly qualified to be amongst the best teams on the papers every time an ICC Tournament started but the Trophy was elusive. Such a long toil can definitely leave doubts in mind and then when there are expectations attached to it, it can generate enormous pressure. Some people may say that the Indian Cricket team were not performing good, how I look at it is they were performing good and hence we expected them to win every time they went into a tournament. Yes there were disappointments, yes they reached close to the line many a times, yes they were the celebrated team with lots of resources, yes the Trophy matters but the highlight is they never stopped believing in the process. As a CEO and Co-Founder of a highly efficient team I can completely relate to it. Not everyday will be yours and it can be a long wait of 11 years but yes if you would be resilient and sincere you would cross the line one day and the Trophy would be yours, and on the way, you would have made lots of good friends, enjoyed the small wins and registered beautiful memories.

If you want to make magic happen even with odds stacked against you, if you want to defend a 30 run 30 balls equation against a solid undefeated team – Stick to the belief, stick to the process, stick to the hard work, stick to the team, stick to the DREAM!
